I'm a 28-year-old freelance writer and reporter living in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I wrote "The Defender: Manute Bol's journey from Sudan to the NBA and back again," a multimedia ebook published by The Atavist. It's available on the Kindle, as well as for the iPhone and iPad. The Wall Street Journal reviewed it here, and SI.com excerpted it here. The story was named a finalist for a Livingston Award, given to the best work by journalists under age 35, in the international reporting category.
I've written for Grantland, ESPN: The Magazine, The New York Times, Sports Illustrated, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Philadelphia Inquirer, SLAM, DRAFT, ESPNHS, and SI.com, among others. I have reported in Sudan, India, and Israel.
I spent the summer of 2009 interning at Sports Illustrated, and I graduated from UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism in May of 2010. Prior to that, I spent a year as a reporter and page designer at the Chattanooga (Tenn.) Times Free Press.
